FROM PLANT TO PACKAGE
How a corn-based bag
can be made.
This is a general route used for some plant-based bioplastics. CarryTech’s exact bag formulation depends on the product and material supplier.

Plant starch
Corn starch is processed to release sugars. The exact renewable feedstock can vary by material supplier.

Fermentation
Microorganisms ferment plant sugars into lactic acid, a building block used to make PLA.

Biopolymer pellets
Lactic acid is converted into PLA, then made into pellets. Bag materials may combine PLA with other compostable components.

Film, then bags
Pellets are melted and extruded as thin film. The film is printed when required, then cut and sealed into bags.
